Putin and Lukashenko begin informal meeting in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko continued negotiations in Sochi, said the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

“Today, communication between the two presidents continues”, – said Peskov.

On the eve of May 28, Putin and Lukashenko held talks that lasted five hours. The open part of the meeting took only a few minutes. Putin called the reaction of the international community to the emergency landing of the Ryanair plane in Minsk “a surge of emotions”.

In turn, Lukashenka said that he had brought to Putin “some documents” concerning the incident with the plane on which the ex-editor-in-chief of the NEXTA Telegram channel Roman Protasevich was.

The leaders of Russia and Belarus meet for the third time since the beginning of the year. They previously held talks in February in Sochi and in April in Moscow.
