Kravchuk cannot make decisions on changes in the format of the negotiation mechanism.
This was announced on Thursday at a press conference by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports TASS.
“As for the statement of Mr. Kravchuk, in principle, he is, of course, the head of the delegation, but it is not up to him to decide how the contact group will continue to work. The contact group was created in the context of a package of documents that was approved at the summit in Minsk in February 2015 and then approved by the UN Security Council resolution”, – the minister said.
Lavrov added that Russia expects that Ukraine will not use the situation with the emergency landing of the Ryanair aircraft in Belarus to evade the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“I would still not confuse the subjects, unless, of course, the Ukrainian side wants to find some reason to completely evade fulfilling its duties. I hope that France and Germany, as co-authors of the Minsk agreements, will not allow this to be done”.
Let us remind you that the Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk proposed to transfer negotiations on Donbass from Minsk to Switzerland or Finland.
