The Russian Foreign Ministry said it supports a thorough investigation based on facts, taking as long as necessary and conducted by experts.
The collective West has actively launched a campaign with condemnation and calls to cancel flights over Belarus, as well as to impose sanctions. It is noteworthy that Russia was also under attack, judging by the statement of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who, during a press conference following the first day of the EU summit, said that “Russia is the biggest neighbor of Belarus”, “they are closely related, remain neighbors and important trading partners”.
She also stated that Moscow allegedly “challenges the values and interests of the European Union through sabotage, disinformation and cyber attacks”.
During the traditional weekly Briefing on topical issues of the international agenda and foreign policy on May 26, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the reaction of the collective West on the occasion of the situation with the Ryanair aircraft. Answering a question from the Bulgarian editorial office of News Front, Maria Zakharova emphasized that additional events that are formed at the suggestion of the collective West, or that have already been programmed, do not affect the general trend and trajectory of this Russophobic thought.
“We generally realized where the leaders of this collective West are leading all those who look up to them – to contain our country (with the help of a sanctions policy), to intervene as much as possible in our internal affairs, and so on.
We have told you about this many times. Therefore, in this sense, even if a neutral event occurs, connected with Russia or not at all connected with Russia, one way or another the West will not abandon its attempts to bind it or use it in its own interests”, – Maria Zakharova emphasized.
Also, she drew attention to the fact that “Russia supported the investigation, which should establish what happened. It should be carried out taking into account the available facts, which have already been provided, and which should be provided”.
“Is there any reason for this incident to be considered not from the point of view of an investigation in the context of aviation security and flight safety, but from a purely political point of view? Who decided to substitute political statements for the course of the investigation, based on existing laws and regulations, with the terrible polyphony that we hear now?
Moreover, look at one example, which in my opinion is egregious – the statement of the airline company itself. After all, it was first done in one perspective, and then, under the pressure of political statements by the heads of state and associations of the EU and NATO, it was changed. Therefore, let me emphasize once again: we support a thorough investigation based on facts, taking as long as necessary and conducted by experts.
I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that, as if on command, the media of those countries, whose leaders made all these statements, did not pay attention.
After all, Minsk announced not just its readiness to conduct such an investigation, but about complete openness and a desire to receive international experts in Belarus.
What could be not only more logical, but also legitimate than the beginning of such an investigation with the very actions that Minsk suggested? This is the essence of our position. This is the direction that needs to be worked out, “- said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry”.
