Foreign Ministry urged Britain to adjust its policy in the Russian direction

The British authorities must adjust their policy in the Russian direction in order to actually confirm their intention to build respectful relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after a telephone conversation between the Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and the Minister of State for European and American Affairs of the British Foreign Ministry Wendy Morton.

It is noted that the conversation took place at the initiative of the British side.

“The current state of Russian-British relations was discussed. The Russian side emphasized the importance of adjusting the British leadership’s policy in the Russian direction in order to confirm in practice the intention to build cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and consideration of interests”, – the message says.

In addition, Russian and British diplomats exchanged views “on a number of topical international issues, including the situation around Belarus and Ukraine”. In the positive, they noted the continuing positive dynamics in trade and economic cooperation, the disposition to further strengthen ties in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the ministry added.
