Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Gabrielius Landsbergis called the oil sector, oil products sector among the possible targets
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis told reporters on Tuesday that the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry considers the sectoral sanctions against Belarus as an effective tool to influence Minsk. At the same time, the ministry considers it necessary to immediately move on to the next package of restrictions.
“As part of the discussion on the fifth package of sanctions against Belarus, the European Union could impose sanctions against certain sectors of the economy, engaged in extensive trade across the EU”, – TASS quoted the Lithuanian minister, calling for an early adoption of the long-agreed fourth package of sanctions against Minsk in order to gradually move towards introducing further restrictive measures.
In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Mantas Adomenas specifies that “there will be new packages and restrictions on all kinds of exports. The diplomat noted that this could concern not only the oil sector, but also fertilizers, engineering products, and include” technologies that come to Belarus from Europe and restrictions on financial mechanisms.
