Britain to discuss sanctions against Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with allies


British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said, RIA Novosti reported.

To introduce British sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 and the Yamal-Europe pipeline that passes through Belarus, the Chairman of the International Committee Tom Tugendhat suggested at the House of Commons debate on Monday. On his initiative, the session was convened to discuss the Ryanair incident.

Tugendhat, addressing Raab, said Nord Stream 2 and the Yamal (Yamal to Europe) energy pipeline, which runs through Belarus and gives money to this tyrannical regime, should be stopped.

“He (Tugendhat. – Ed. note) remarked that another measure is Nord Stream. We will decide on it and consult with our partners, after which we will see what further steps will be taken. <…> We will urgently discuss all possibilities (of imposing new sanctions against Belarus. – Ed. note). But it is important that our efforts are coordinated,” said Raab.

Recall, May 23, Ryanair plane, flying from Athens to Vilnius, grounded in Minsk airport due to a bomb threat. Telegram channel “Pool One,” close to the press service of the Belarusian president, reported that both Athens and Vilnius had asked to take the plane, and the commander of the plane decided to turn around to Minsk.
