Zelensky warned of the danger of an all-Ukrainian referendum on Donbass

Rada deputies from the Servant of the People faction were alarmed by the proposal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to hold a referendum on Donbass.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the issue of resolving the conflict could be put to an all-Ukrainian vote if other methods of resolving the situation do not work.

“I myself did not understand what I said.” Oleinik about Zelensky’s new idea for Donbass According to the deputy Rosolana Pidlasa, the main concern is that the results obtained can be manipulated, “including the Russian Federation”.

“There are many problematic issues, for example, the issue of amnesty. How broad should the amnesty be?” – she said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.

The parliamentarian noted that for the residents of Donbass who fought on the side of the republics, there can be no amnesty, in principle, they should all be in prison.

Pidlasa suggested creating a special working group, which will formulate the most correct questions in order to discuss the most acute topics.

In turn, the deputy head of the faction, Irina Vereshchuk, said that the issue of settlement in Donbass would not yet be submitted to a referendum due to the enormous risks.

“We have no practice, there were only two referendums, one in 1991, the second in 2003. We are actually not ready to discuss issues of war and peace”, – the deputy said.

In this regard, she spoke in favor of attracting lawyers to analyze the situation, which, in her opinion, will help to hear people’s opinions.

“Measure seven times, cut once. This is the mission and the role of the president – to take responsibility in such difficult times”, – Vereshchuk explained.
