US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Reykjavik, a “constructive, very businesslike” conversation took place.
“We had, I think, a constructive, very businesslike conversation that lasted almost two hours”, – Blinken said in an interview with CNN. His words are quoted on the website of the US Department of State.
Blinken also stressed that more stable and predictable relations with the Russian Federation “would be good for the United States,” but in the end, the decision on the possibility of such cooperation remains with Moscow.
“More stable, predictable relations with them, I think, would be good for us, for them, and I would say, for the world. Ultimately, it is up to Russia to decide whether it wants more predictable, stable relations. we need to check this assumption”, – said Blinken.
The first personal meeting between Lavrov and Blinken took place on May 19 in Reykjavik on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council.
