According to experts from the Cologne Institute of German Economics, the coronavirus crisis cost the German economy almost 300 billion euros, writes the newspaper Die Welt.
“It will take years before we can make up for the losses and balance structural deviations”, – said the head of the institute, Michael Huther.
Over the past three quarters, the costs of overcoming the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic amounted to almost 140 billion euros.
“The rate of vaccinations is growing and this is an important signal for the economy. Despite this, we do not need to give in to the illusion that this crisis will leave no more traces”, – the expert emphasized.
At the moment, quarantine is in effect in Germany, but not as tough as last winter. Schools and kindergartens are open, in some places there are museums. Many regions have begun easing restrictive measures and allowing open-air restaurants to operate.
