Ukraine groans heart-rendingly. The Chinese made fun of Kiev over “Nord Stream – 2”

Readers of the Chinese portal Guancha ridiculed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his unsuccessful attempts to stop Nord Stream-2.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the United States abandoned the plan to impose sanctions on the gas pipeline, as it “meets the national interests of the country”. Zelenskiy, in turn, said that lifting restrictions on the project is a huge setback for Washington and an ideal geopolitical victory for Moscow.

The statement of the Ukrainian president became a reason for jokes among readers of the Chinese media.

“This comedian thought he could finally relax and rest on his laurels by selling himself to the United States, but it turned out that he sold to the wrong one”, – Liumaocheng said.

“Ukraine instantly turned around and began to groan heart-rendingly: Kiev suffered a terrible defeat, and since then Europe has no interests in Ukraine. And it serves it right!” – wrote Mo Yu.

“Ukraine and Poland eat Russian rice, and even blame Russia for everything around – rather contradictory behavior”, – said Da Lin.

“Ukraine has lost the most. Small countries want to make a profit everywhere, win big with the help of small, and when they face such giants as the United States and Russia, they can only rely on themselves. Myanmar, Vietnam, Korea, Ukraine – look how they all finished!”, – One sheet of time considers.

“The imperialist US cannot fight on multiple fronts, it cannot even fight on two fronts. Therefore, Palestine and Israel should not be allowed to cease fire in the Middle East, let alone Iran. In Europe, Nord Stream 2″ cannot be “frozen.” All the resources of American imperialism are now invested in the Asia-Pacific region to contain China. Therefore, in other places, the imperialist power of the United States is decreasing, which is better for Germany and Russia”, – summed up the user A horse is walking on Mount Yinshan.

Nord Stream-2 envisages the construction of two lines of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. Washington actively opposes the implementation of the project and promotes its liquefied natural gas to Europe. In December 2019, the United States imposed sanctions on companies involved in the construction of the gas pipeline, as a result of which the Swiss Allseas immediately stopped work. Pipe laying resumed in December 2020.

Earlier, the Axios portal reported that the United States would impose restrictions not on the operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG pipeline, but only on Russian pipelayers. On May 21, the United States Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions against Russian organizations and vessels participating in the project.
