Azerbaijan and Turkey held joint counterterrorism exercises

The main goal was to improve the interaction and increase the combat effectiveness of the units of the armies of the two countries.

As the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense said on Saturday, the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey held joint tactical exercises, which worked out the skills to destroy sabotage groups and conduct counterterrorist operations.

“According to the joint action plan for 2021, tactical exercises were held with the participation of Azerbaijani and Turkish military personnel. The main goal of the exercises held at the combined-arms training ground of the Azerbaijani army was to improve interaction and increase the combat effectiveness of the army units of the two countries, to develop the skills of military decision-making, initiative and managerial skills among the commanders of operational units”, – the statement quoted by TASS says.

According to the Defense Ministry, during the exercise, special groups “solved the problem of covert penetration and organization of an ambush deep in the defenses of a simulated enemy at different times of the day, as well as the capture of a command post and military facilities”.

“Special attention was paid to the organization of covert movement, the destruction of sabotage groups, suppression of enemy provocations and the study of the peculiarities of counter-terrorist operations”, – added the Ministry of Defense.

The number of servicemen and military equipment involved in the exercises has not been reported.
