Sergey Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, has declared an open confrontation between Britain and Russia
He also noted that London, because of “Euro-Atlantic solidarity”, did not condemn the violations of fundamental principles of democracy that took place during the US presidential election, when even the then-acting US head of state, Donald Trump, was “thrown out” of social media.
“After the elections in the United States of America, don’t you have that feeling that fundamental principles of democracy were violated in the organisation of the elections, the right to freedom of speech, freedom of information dissemination was violated? What is there to say, even if the president of the country – the highest official in the country – he was still in office, it does not mean that I have a positive attitude towards him – he was just taken and thrown out of social media”, – Naryshkin said in an interview with the BBC.
According to the SVR chief, there is no freedom of speech or democracy:
“Well, where is freedom of speech? Where is democracy? Why are you not outraged by this, please tell me. And I know why: it’s all odious Euro-Atlantic solidarity”, – the SVR head added.
