Spain mobilises army in Ceuta after record migrant arrival

Spanish authorities have decided to mobilize the army after the arrival of an unprecedented number of illegal migrants in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta.

A total of more than 5 thousand people, including about 1.5 thousand minors, arrived in Ceuta from Morocco by boat overnight. The number of migrants arriving during the day was a record high for Spain.

As a result, the authorities decided to mobilise the army to support the government delegation in the autonomous city amid the situation.
