“Nord Stream 2” has become a link in the renewed dialogue between the heads of diplomatic departments of Russia and the US
Andrei Loboda, an economist and expert in foreign relations and corporate communications, told FAN in a commentary.
The Federal Office of Shipping and Hydrography of Germany (BSH) has permitted to immediately continue the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the German exclusive economic zone for two kilometres. This is said in a statement by the press service of the agency.
As Andrei Loboda noted, the construction of the second line of Nord Stream-2 pipeline enters the final stage at the end of May. The laying of the pipeline in the territorial waters of Denmark and Germany is taking place without any information attacks.
“It is clear that this important energy project for the EU is becoming a reality. The economic and political ambitions of the US need to be urgently rethought, which Washington is doing very skillfully. Today, Nord Stream 2, oddly enough, has become a link in the renewed dialogue between the heads of diplomatic departments of Russia and the United States. Apart from business, a lot of geopolitical issues are forming today on the agenda of the meeting between the leaders of the two countries”, – Andrey Loboda explained.
According to him, two key conclusions can be drawn after permission to resume construction of Nord Stream 2 in the German Baltic Sea waters. The lawsuits by probably very engaged German environmentalists and their trepidation about nesting birds in Baltic waters are just a spin-off from tasks sponsored by their US partners. The reputation of environmentalists is now badly damaged. The US is losing the gas race in the EU market, and by a very wide margin. The recent anomalous cold snap in Western Europe has just proved that Russian gas strengthens European energy security.
“It is important to note that Gazprom’s shares have been going up steadily for six months now. From the beginning of October to today, the company has risen by almost 47%. “Gazprom has arguably become one of the most mediafriendly companies in the foreign and Russian media. This is very positive, attracting investors from all over the world, among whom are many individuals from the US and EU. They are already in on it. “Nord Stream 2, in my view, is not yet factored into the gas giant’s share price. Today Russian gas costs about 330 dollars per 1000 cubic metres. These are very high prices, they have actually gone up by USD 100 to the usual pre-demand price”, – Andriy Loboda added.
He noted that it is highly probable that Gazprom’s quotations will fly into space by the end of the year, and the share of western investors in the company will also increase. The economy is finally beating politics.
“Nord Stream 2” is a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany with an annual capacity of 55 billion cubic metres. At the end of 2019, then-acting US President Donald Trump signed the country’s military budget plan for next year, which included imposing sanctions on the project.
Recall that Berlin regretted the United States’ decision to impose restrictive measures against the vessel Fortuna, which is involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
