Colonial Pipeline chief paid hackers $4.4m

Joseph Blount has issued a statement after it was reported in the press that the payment amounted to $90m

The head of Colonial Pipeline, Joseph Blount, told The Wall Street Journal newspaper on Wednesday that US-based pipeline operator Colonial Pipeline, which suffered a hacking attack, had paid them $4.4 million, TASS reported.

“I believe we did the right thing”, –  he said.

Blount issued a statement after it was reported in the press that the payment amounted to $90 million.
