“At this point, we believe that negotiating behind closed doors, using important strategic partnerships with Israel and other countries in the region is the most constructive way”, – Psaki said when asked why Washington refuses to issue a call for a ceasefire as its partners do.
The US administration spokesperson also stressed that Washington’s goal is to “de-escalate” tensions in the region as quickly as possible and ultimately resolve the conflict through a two-state solution. According to her, the United States sees its goal as resolving the situation in the Middle East.
