So far, there is no clarity about the time and place of the hypothetical summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States.
This was stated on Tuesday by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
“Now various aspects of this issue are being worked out. We have recorded everything that was said on this topic by the American side, including at the highest level”, – Ryabkov said.
He replied that “if and when the final agreement on the summit is reached, the preparation will be deep and will take some time”.
“We view the potential summit as the largest event in our bilateral relations, as well as a very serious signal to the entire international community”.
He added that so far there is no clarity about the time and place of the hypothetical summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States.
“I think it will take some more time before something can be announced in terms of where and when the hypothetical summit we are talking about can take place”.
The deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry told reporters that there is no final agreement on the venue for the summit, but perhaps it will be one of the European diplomatic capitals.
He noted that “a number of states have offered and continue to offer their possibilities for organizing a meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States”.
“We are grateful to all of them for their interest and goodwill in this matter. All of them, I am sure, would do their best to provide the most comfortable conditions. But when such issues are resolved, the parties first come to a common denominator on the merits, and then they discuss the time and place. We have not yet fully worked out the main thing”, – the deputy minister added.
