US may “unfreeze” conflict in Transnistria – ex-Trump adviser

Former adviser to the 45th US President Donald Trump, John Bolton, said that thanks to the loyalty of the new leadership of Moldova, Washington can calmly “unfreeze” the conflict in Transnistria.

“Moldova, squeezed between Ukraine and Romania, is a frozen conflict, ready to be ‘unfrozen’. The supposedly independent Transnistria, invented by Russia, exists separately from Moldova only thanks to the continued military presence of Moscow”, – Bolton told Nationalreview.com.

In his opinion, drawing global attention to Transnistria “will shake the Kremlin”, and “a resolute new government in Chisinau will give Washington an opportunity to step up its actions”.

By “strong government” Bolton means Moldovan President Maia Sandu and her pro-European Action and Solidarity Party.
