Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for an end to the hysteria around the “entry” into NATO

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yegor Bozhok called for the Kiev authorities to stop putting pressure on the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to the diplomat, the clamor surrounding the granting of the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) to Ukraine only harms the country’s North Atlantic perspective. Bozhok stressed that the Alliance does not make any decisions “under pressure”.

“This noise actually forced the allies to “freeze” the issue of inviting Ukraine to the MAP for now, because, as I have repeatedly stressed, NATO does not make any decisions amid hysteria. All steps of the Alliance are always balanced and verified. You cannot “squeeze out” or “cry out” anything from the allies, everything happens only according to the rules, procedures and merit”, – Bozhok said in an interview with Ukrinform.

He also commented on the visit of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishina to Brussels, which is to take place on Tuesday. According to the Deputy Minister, the discussion of granting the MAP to Ukraine during the visit will be another big mistake.

Bozhok stressed that any such decisions are made as a result of painstaking diplomatic negotiations, and the presence of public noise around such work does not contribute to its ultimate success.
