Man suspected of spying for Russia in Poland

A Polish citizen has been detained on charges of espionage for Russia, said Stanislav Zharin, spokesman for the Polish secret services coordinator.

“The Internal Security Agency detained a Polish citizen who collaborated with the Russian special services. The detainee confessed to the acts committed by him”, – Zharin wrote on Twitter.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the country reported that “on the instructions of the prosecutor of the Mazovian Interdistrict Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the General Prosecutor’s Office, employees of the Internal Security Agency detained Marcin K., who was charged”.

It is clarified that the prosecutors charged the detainee with “activities in favor of foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland”. The accused faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to 10 years.

At the request of the prosecutor, the accused was arrested for three months.
