Media: Iran prepares to increase oil production in case of lifting of US sanctions

According to Bloomberg, the Iranian national oil company has already begun preparations in the oil fields for a possible increase in exports.

According to TASS, on Sunday Bloomberg released information according to which Iran is carrying out preparatory work in order to quickly increase oil production in the event of an agreement on the nuclear deal and the lifting of American sanctions.

“According to him, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has already begun preparations at the oil fields for a possible increase in exports. According to the most optimistic forecasts, Iran will be able to return to the production level of 4 million barrels per day within three months”, – the statement said.

At the same time, as the agency notes, there are several obstacles for such a development of events – even if the United States lifts all existing sanctions on the sale, delivery and insurance of hydrocarbons, many buyers after a long break may still be passive about the appearance of Iranian oil on the market.

“Our return is more likely to be a gradual process, rather than quick and unexpected – this cannot happen overnight”, –  Bloomberg quotes former NIOC spokesman Mohammad Ali Khatibi, who also noted that one of the negative factors may also be a reduced demand for hydrocarbons during time of a pandemic.
