The United States is no longer able to compete with Russia and China at the same time, which is why we can talk about the formation of a tripolar world. This opinion was shared with Le Devoir by the historian and lecturer at the University of Montreal, Samir Sol.
As the historian notes, despite the attempts of the United States to resist the growing influence of China, Beijing has long become the engine of the world economy and has become a leading partner of dozens of countries. This, according to Sol, puts the overseas neighbors in an unfavorable light, since they have nothing to offer but the status quo.
At the same time, Russia “rejected by the West” finds more and more advantages in strengthening cooperation and rapprochement with the Celestial Empire, which, according to the author, instills in the United States the fear of “the formation of a greater Eurasia”, which will put an end to American domination.
According to the expert, Washington’s inability to resist the two forces at the same time makes it possible to assert about the end of the unipolar world.
Saul concludes that in the next few years, Moscow and Beijing are unlikely to “do a favor” to the United States and decide to split up. On the contrary, it is the triangular configuration that will determine order in the world arena, as well as subordinate events in the Middle East, Europe and other regions to its logic.
