Turkey ready to send military to Jerusalem

Turkish authorities are considering sending soldiers to East Jerusalem as part of an international peacekeeping mission

Ahmet Berat Cankar, deputy chairman of the Turkish parliament’s foreign affairs committee, said this on Friday, May 14, commenting for RIA Novosti on the Turkish president’s response to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

“If the decision is made to send our military to East Jerusalem as part of an international peacekeeping force, the government will need parliamentary approval, as before. As of now, Parliament has not received a request for permission to send military personnel to East Jerusalem. The government may be doing so now. However, whether such a request will be handed over to us is not yet known”, –  the politician said.

As reported by News Front, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has previously pledged strong support for the Palestinians, comparing the situation to the recent escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh.
