A particularly dubious “individual case”: Five black Africans suspected of raping a 17-year-old boy at a party in a luxury hotel in Berlin and videotaping the whole thing are currently on trial in a Berlin district court
The charges are collective rape and the production of youth pornographic material “reproducing a real event”.
The black Africans, all in their twenties, were born in Germany and most of them have a second citizenship: Million A. is “German-Nigerian”, Oluwatobi Az “German-Cerra-Leonean”, Jermaine G. “German-Togoer”, Tita N. “German-Cameroonian”. Only Jermaine Az has no second citizenship.
According to the presiding officer, the defendants can escape punishment if they plead guilty, otherwise they face imprisonment.
The defendants initially refused, as at the moment, according to their lawyers, they are not prepared to do so. Consequently, the traumatised victim is due to testify at another hearing soon. The next court hearing is scheduled for 21 May, with a verdict expected in July.
