The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has started re-certification in accordance with the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance, Military Observer reports
The re-certification process has already started in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard. Servicemen with the ranks of “master sergeant”, “warrant officer” and “senior warrant officer” become “master sergeants”, “staff sergeants” and “master sergeants” during the re-certification process.
Re-certification in the State Border Guard Service will affect not only petty officers and warrant officers, but also privates and non-commissioned officers. All privates will be promoted to the rank of “soldier” and those on the rank of “senior soldier”. There will be no petty officers or warrant officers, as in the AFU: instead there will be sergeants with the prefix “chief”, “staff” and “master”.
Earlier the Kiev authorities announced the transition from the Soviet system of ranks to NATO standards. The existing ranks of army general and colonel-general have now been abolished. Instead of Colonel-General, the rank of “General” is being introduced, which also becomes the most senior military rank in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
