Tunisian authorities do not intend to spend money to build reception centres for migrants heading to Europe
The statement was made by Hichem Mechici, the head of the government of the North African country, speaking at a ministerial conference on the management of migration flows, held in Lisbon.
“Tunisia refuses to set up reception centres on its territory to receive foreign migrants heading for Europe and is not prepared at all to receive citizens from other countries, just as it opposes any interference in operations that affect its national sovereignty,” Mechici said.
