Large-scale NATO exercises unfold in the Balkans

The North Atlantic Alliance is conducting maneuvers on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Ministry of Defense has reported

Although the country is not a member of NATO, it participates in the Partnership for Peace program. The Alliance has deployed Defender Europe 2021 exercises in the Balkans.

On Friday, May 14, the U.S. European Command had already announced the arrival of more than 300 troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were greeted at Sarajevo airport by BiH Defence Minister Sifet Podzic and U.S. Ambassador Eric Nelson.
