The Nord Stream 2 pipeline is an economic project that meets Berlin’s interests. Such a view was expressed by the candidate for Chancellor of Germany from the Left Party, head of the parliamentary faction Dietmar Bartsch, reports TASS
“Washington should not make decisions about Germany’s and Europe’s energy supply. Blackmail and threats are unacceptable in partner relations. This project is in the interests of Germany and specifically the people of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. We need to conclude it quickly. It is primarily an economic project, and this is how it should be viewed”, – the politician stressed.
The United States is actively opposing the completion of the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline because they want to supply their own liquefied gas to the European countries, which is much more expensive than pipeline gas.
“Nord Stream 2” envisages the construction of two pipeline routes with a total capacity of 55bn cu.m. per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany.
