As stated in the State Department, this will strengthen the country’s naval potential in the Black Sea.
“We will continue to work with Ukraine in a bilateral format to strengthen, for example, [its] naval capabilities in the Black Sea. And we look forward to transferring two Island class patrol boats to Ukraine, as I understand it, later this month. In addition to the two we provided in November 2019”, – said a US Foreign Office official.
He spoke at an internet conference hosted by the nongovernmental American-Ukrainian Foundation, TASS reports.
In March, the Pentagon announced another $ 125 million military aid package to Ukraine, which included mainly two Mark IV patrol boats. Since 2014, Washington has provided more than $2 billion in military aid to Kiev, according to the US Department of Defense.
