Construction will take place in Bucharest as part of NATO activities. Romania will create a NATO Euro-Atlantic Defense Center to counter Russia
This was announced by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Bucharest after the Bucharest Nine (B9) summit.
“We are working on the creation of a Euro-Atlantic defense center, which will be located in Bucharest”, – said Iohannis.
According to him, during the discussion of the presidents, it was emphasized that Russia’s destabilizing actions in the region cause “concern and a feeling of an insufficient level of security”.
The Romanian President stressed that the current security situation in the Black Sea proves: “NATO will continue to strengthen its deterrent and defensive capabilities, especially on the eastern flank, working together from the Baltic to the Black Sea”.
NATO must remain active in the eastern neighborhood to strengthen the defenses and capabilities of its eastern neighbors to respond to the challenges they face, Iohannis said.
