Bulgarian President to dissolve parliament next week

And he intends to schedule the next parliamentary elections for July 11. The President of Bulgaria will dissolve parliament next week

“Next week, by my decree, I will dissolve the People’s Assembly and appoint a service (provisional – ed.) Government. In this situation, the elections are expected to take place on July 11”, – the president said.

It is reported that before his decision, the president gave the mandate to form a government to the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), but the leader of the political force, Cornelia Ninova, refused, stressing that there was no “objective opportunity to form a cabinet.”

Also, on May 11, Radev will issue a decree on the appointment of a new composition of the Central Election Commission.

This is the first time in the modern history of Bulgaria: early voting for the new composition of the National Assembly will take place a few months after the previous parliamentary elections. Earlier, the GERB party, which won the parliamentary elections by a small margin, received the presidential mandate to form a government, but failed to realize it. Then the party “There is such a people” refused to form a government.

According to the constitution, the president could give the third mandate to any party with representation in parliament, not necessarily third in the elections (the Bulgarian Socialist Party). If all three attempts fail, the president appoints a service government to prepare the country for new parliamentary elections.
