A foreign armed contingent cannot be deployed in Uzbekistan in accordance with the country’s legislation.
Alisher Babakhanov, a spokesman for the country’s Defense Ministry, said this on Monday, May 10, commenting on The Wall Street Journal’s information that American troops from Afghanistan would be sent to Uzbekistan.
“Uzbekistan’s defense laws prohibit the presence of foreign military bases on the territory of the republic”, – the official told TASS.
According to him, the foreign policy of the republic also excludes the use of its troops for foreign military operations.
