Norway calls for phase-out of AstraZeneca and J&J vaccines

The government’s expert group on viral vector vaccines in Norway has advised against using coronavirus drugs from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson (J&J).

The use of the vaccine by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca in Norway was stopped on 11 March. It was on this day that the first reports of cases of thrombosis and bleeding disorders appeared in people who had been vaccinated against coronavirus.

Vaccination with the drug Janssen from the American company Johnson & Johnson, which was approved in the European Union and the kingdom in mid-March, has not yet begun. The government’s decision was based on the fact that possible side effects in the form of blood clots require further study.
