Armenian PM says enmity between Armenia and Turkey must be manageable

Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that the feud between Yerevan and Ankara must be manageable.

“Of course, Turkey is the enemy of Armenia, it happened historically. However, the time has come for this feud to become manageable”, – Pashinyan said at a special session of the parliament.

It is worth noting that despite the common border between Armenia and Turkey, there are no diplomatic relations. In 2009 in Zurich, the foreign ministers of the two states signed protocols on the establishment of diplomatic relations and on the principles of relations, but these documents were not ratified by the parties, and in 2018 Yerevan announced the annulment of the protocols.

The Armenian authorities have repeatedly stressed that Turkey provided assistance to Azerbaijan during the armed conflict that took place on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020.
