Armenian parliament was dissolved after the second failure of the vote for the new prime minister

Armenian lawmakers failed a second vote for a new prime minister, which triggered the process of dissolving parliament.

As the speaker of the parliament Ararat Mirzoyan said, 76 MPs abstained from voting, one voted “for” and one “against”.

“This means that, according to the Constitution of Armenia, the country’s parliament is dissolved by force of law, then new elections will be called”, – he explained.

Mirzoyan also noted that the current convocation will continue to work until the first meeting of the new one takes place.
