The main clashes took place near the al-Aqsa mosque, WAFA reported
Some 200 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police in East Jerusalem, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
“The main clashes took place near the al-Aqsa mosque. Police fired rubber bullets at worshippers and also used stun grenades and tear gas, the agency specified. More than 200 security forces then stormed the courtyards of the mosque and the indoor prayer halls, and forced worshippers to leave Al-Aqsa”, – the report said.
Clashes are currently continuing in East Jerusalem and its suburb of Sheikh Jarrah. Dozens of Palestinians have been detained, with more than 20 requiring hospitalisation, WAFA said. In addition, the agency stressed, Israeli security forces are actively obstructing the work of journalists covering the events. As a result, two correspondents for Palestinian newspapers have been seriously injured.
