The Pentagon says the US has no plans to shoot down a Chinese missile

The United States hopes that the Chinese rocket, which is performing an uncontrolled deorbiting, will fall in a safe place with no plans to shoot it down

This was stated by the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin.

“According to the latest estimates that I have seen, the rocket will fall somewhere between 8 and 9 May. Experts continue to work on this matter. We have no plan to shoot down the missile. We hope it falls where it doesn’t harm anyone. Hopefully in the ocean or some other similar place”, – he said.

Austin made it clear that the US military in charge of outer space needs to operate in a secure manner and take such factors into account when planning and executing operations.
