Roskomnadzor demanded that Google remove the restriction from the Heroes Street mobile application.
The program acquaints users with the biographies of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, whose names are on the streets in different cities of Russia.
It is known that the application that contains information of a historical nature has been removed from Google Play. Roskomnadzor sent a letter to the management of Google LLC demanding to remove the restriction on access to the Heroes Street application as soon as possible.
The purpose of the application is to preserve and pass on to generations the memory of the victors in the Great Patriotic War.
“We emphasize that any actions aimed at suppressing and distorting the memory of the decisive contribution of Soviet soldiers to the victory over fascism and their heroic deeds committed during the Second World War are unacceptable”, – the letter says.
Alexey Pushkov commented on the situation on the Telegram channel:
“American Internet platforms are unwilling to improve. Twitter has not yet complied with all the requirements of Roskomnadzor, and Google and YouTube continue the practice of blocking Russian resources. Apparently, fines alone will not fix the matter here.”
Roskomnadzor demands to inform about the lifting of restrictions, as well as explain the reasons for their introduction.
Recall that according to Russian law, ignoring warnings by the owners of Internet resources about violations of the rights of Russians on the Internet, including censorship of Russian media, entails the imposition of administrative fines of up to 1 million rubles. A repeated refusal to comply with the requirements will entail a multiple increase in fines – up to 3 million rubles.
