British Navy ships leave Jersey after French fishermen protest ends

Two British naval warships are preparing to return to base after French fishing vessels end their blockade of the British island of Jersey.

As News Front previously reported, French anglers have recently faced obstacles in accessing numerous fishing areas between 6 and 12 nautical miles off the British coast. The United Kingdom is delaying the licensing process, and the lack of such licenses for French fishermen could result in high fines for them.

In this regard, fishermen today staged a protest right off the coast of Jersey, forcing London to send warships there. At the moment, the situation has stabilized, according to the press service of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“We are delighted that French fishing boats have left the Jersey area. Given that the situation has been resolved at the moment, the coastal patrol ships will begin to prepare to return to the port in the UK, ”the communiqué said.
