Politico: Putin and Biden may meet in Prague or Reykjavik

According to American ex-officials, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, may hold a meeting in the capitals of the Czech Republic, Iceland, Slovenia or Azerbaijan. It is reported by the Politico newspaper.

Earlier, the media reported that the leadership of a number of countries proposed to host the summit. Among them were also Switzerland, Finland and Austria, which are considered “neutral” places for such events.

According to Politico sources, Reykjavik, Prague, Ljubljana and Baku should not be excluded from the possible options. Iceland, although it is farther than the other listed states, already has experience in holding such meetings. The chances of holding a summit in Baku are rather small due to the likely negative reaction to this by Armenia and Americans of Armenian descent.

We will remind that earlier US President Joe Biden, during a telephone conversation, suggested to the Russian leader Vladimir Putin to hold a lynch meeting “in a third country”. The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the meeting of the heads of the Russian Federation and the United States is planned for the summer months, but the exact date and country have not yet been determined.
