The head of the US State Department, Tony Blinken, promised the Ukrainian authorities that Joe Biden would take into account the interests of Kiev during negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
This was announced on Thursday, May 6, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
The official expressed confidence that the meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States would be beneficial for Kiev.
“We have already received assurances from our American partners that they will not decide anything about Ukraine without taking into account our interests. This is what I clearly heard today from Secretary of State Anthony Blinken when meeting with him”, – Kuleba said in a comment for Interfax.
At the same time, he acknowledged that Russia is unlikely to follow the lead of the United States if the Americans threaten to increase the pressure of sanctions.
