Architecture of relations has been destroyed – Lavrov told what claims Russia has against the European Union

Brussels destroyed an effective system of international cooperation with its own hand, supporting the coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014.

Such a statement on Thursday, May 6, was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The foreign minister criticized Western countries for imposing anti-Russian sanctions without convincing grounds. According to him, this approach has no legitimacy, especially since it is the European Union that is to blame for the destruction of relations with the Russian Federation.

“If we talk about relations between Russia and the European Union, between the Brussels structures, then the entire architecture of these relations, which was probably unprecedentedly developed in its time, was destroyed by Brussels in connection with the events that took place in Ukraine”, – the minister said.

Although now the Western elites, using the decision of Crimea to reunite with the Russian Federation, accuse Moscow of provoking the crisis, Lavrov reminded that it is Russia that should present its claims. It was the European capitals that violated their obligations by supporting the oligarchic elites who decided to overthrow Viktor Yanukovych from the presidency of Ukraine.

Lavrov also stressed that Moscow does not intend to tolerate Western pressure, therefore it is ready to respond to any anti-Russian sanctions.
