The lawsuit filed by German environmentalists from Nabu has a suspensive effect on the permission of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, work can be resumed from the end of May, the press service of the regulator told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
Earlier, the German environmental organization Nabu announced that it was filing a lawsuit against BSH’s permission to build Nord Stream-2.
“The lawsuit filed has a suspensive effect on a building permit. The claim is directed against the second amended BSH permit dated January 14, 2021. With this permit, BSH approved the laying of the pipeline using an anchored vessel between late September and late May on a 16.5 kilometer section in the exclusive economic zone of Germany on the Baltic Sea. From the end of May, it will be allowed to continue construction of Nord Stream-2 in accordance with the current permit regulation. In March 2018, the operator of Nord Stream-2 received a permanent permit to lay the pipeline from the end of May until end of September”, – said the press service of BSH.
