Belarusian President says EU and US did not help Belarus in the fight against COVID-19

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the Europeans and Americans did nothing to help the republic in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

As reported by the agency Sputnik Belarus, on Tuesday Lukashenko received the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko with a report, with whom he discussed, among other things, the financing of anti-corruption measures.

“I was informed during my trip that there are some problems, if there are any, of course, with regard to the financing of antiquarian measures. Of course, we spent a lot of money. The last scoundrels are Europeans and Americans. They did not help us, absolutely. Although WHO, and the UN constantly declares that it is necessary to support someone and so on. Well, they didn’t help and we don’t need it, we don’t ask them”, – Lukashenko said.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the West is “tightening the screws” – it is introducing sanctions against Belarus in order to “worsen the situation here”.

Lukashenko asked the prime minister how Belarus is doing in terms of fighting the coronavirus.

“The main thing here is that we have treated and will continue to treat our people. And, God forbid, that we have this problem eliminated as it is now being eliminated. So that we support those doctors who still work in the red zones”, – added Lukashenko.

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus infection a pandemic. According to the latest data, the number of cases of COVID-19 infection in Belarus amounted to 362,594; in total, 2,582 patients have died since the spread of the infection.
