Doubting quality, Canada refuses to use Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Canadian authorities have decided not to use Johnson & Johnson’s US vaccine against COVID-19 as part of mass vaccination of the population

The decision affected the first batch, as the Ministry of Health intends to scrutinize the quality of the vaccine, the ministry’s press office said.

The fact is that the batch of vaccine was produced by a factory where 15 million doses of J&J vaccine had previously been tainted. As a consequence, the drug will only be allowed to be used by Canadians after it has been verified to “meet high standards of quality, safety and efficacy”.

As News Front previously reported, the safety of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine has been called into question after blood clots formed in people to whom the drug was administered. A similar side effect has been observed with the AstraZeneca vaccine and its use has been severely restricted in countries around the world.
