The mission of the German armed forces in Afghanistan has been completed, the German Defense Ministry said. The safety of the withdrawal of the Bundeswehr will be ensured by a special unit KSK.
According to DW with reference to the German Ministry of Defense, the mission of the German armed forces (Bundeswehr) in Afghanistan has been completed. An orderly process of withdrawal of military personnel and equipment began.
“It is expected that the withdrawal of troops will last until September. The safety of the process is ensured by the Special Forces of the Bundeswehr KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte), German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer signed a relevant decree”, – the statement says.
To date, there are about 1,100 representatives of the armed forces of the FRG in the Hindu Kush, most of them are located in a camp in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. Germany has the second largest military contingent in Afghanistan among NATO countries, second only to the United States.
