The American leader earlier suggested that the Russian president meet in Europe in the summer.

According to the Kremlin press service following a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Sebastian Kurz on Friday, the Austrian Chancellor proposed to consider holding a possible meeting in Vienna between the presidents of Russia and the United States – Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.

“The Federal Chancellor proposed to consider the candidacy of Vienna as a place for a possible Russian-American summit meeting, if an appropriate agreement is reached on its holding”, – the press service of the Russian leader said.

The presidents of Russia and the United States held a telephone conversation on April 13. According to the White House press service, the American leader put forward the idea of ​​holding a Russian-American summit in a third country in the coming months. Subsequently, the head of the US administration explained that he had invited his Russian counterpart to meet in Europe in the summer.

The Federal Chancellor also discussed with the Russian leader the issues of cooperation in the fight against coronavirus infection and the prospects for joint work in this direction.
