Germany understands that NATO allies will not defend the Baltic States

The anti-Russian hysteria being promoted in the West makes the analysts there make unexpected confessions.

In his article for the German edition of Handelsblatt, political expert Wolfgang Münchau frankly admits that if Russia really decided to attack the Baltic countries, neither Germany nor other partners in the Alliance would have defended Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

“Remember that he once called the collapse of the Soviet Union the greatest catastrophe. Putin will not retake the entire geographic space of the Soviet Union. But it focuses on security interests that extend beyond Russia’s de facto borders. A weak and divided EU and NATO will help to realize these interests”, – writes Munchau in an article, the translation of which is provided by the portal Ino.Media.

“There is a certain logic in what he is doing now. And this logic allows me to conclude that the Suwalki corridor is a potentially very dangerous place”.
