As reported by Sputnik Kyrgyzstan, on April 28, citizens of Tajikistan began loading rubble from the bank of the Ak-Suu River, 3-4 meters from the conditional line of the state border. Then the Tajik side decided to install CCTV cameras on the poles of power transmission lines at the “Head watershed” in the Batken region. About 100-150 people gathered on both sides, they started throwing stones at each other. By evening, the situation had stabilized – negotiations were held, and the Tajik side agreed to dismantle the cameras, but did not fulfill the promise.
By the morning of April 29, the situation worsened. Tajiks began throwing stones at the Kyrgyz and their homes. Subsequently, the citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan began to fire at the passing cars of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from hunting rifles. There are wounded. The situation is characterized as tense. An emergency regime has been introduced in three ayil aimaks of Batken oblast.
The press center of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tatarstan spread a message that seven Tajiks were injured during the incident. According to the Tajik side, the “Head watershed” hydraulic structure is located on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan uses it unilaterally.
According to the information at the moment, the border troops and special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan began a massive shelling of the Golovnoy water intake from 14:00. Mortars, machine guns and machine guns are used. The water intake is located in the village of Kok-Tash, Batken region.
“The first deputy chairman of the State Committee for National Security, Director of the Border Service Ularbek Sharsheev, who coordinates the situation and takes measures to localize the armed border conflict provoked by Tajik border guards, is at the scene”, – the State Committee for National Security noted.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, about 15 casualties are expected to be delivered from the scene of the shootout on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
According to the ministry, seven wounded were admitted to the hospital, two of them are in serious condition. According to official information from the Ministry of Health and Social Development, there are currently eight victims. The Ministry of Emergency Situations assured that all civilians were evacuated.
