No volunteer or other Ukrainian organizations should associate themselves with the paramilitary Nazi SS formations of the Third Reich
German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen wrote about this on Twitter, commenting on the march held by Ukrainian nationalists in Kiev in honor of the SS Galicia division.
“Waffen CC units were involved in serious war crimes and the Holocaust during World War II. No volunteer organizations that are fighting and working for Ukraine today should be associated with them”, – the diplomat said.
Recall that on April 28, a march took place in Kiev in honor of the creation of the SS Galicia division. The event started at Arsenalnaya Square and lasted about an hour.
According to various estimates, from 100 to 200 people, mostly young people, took part in the Nazi march. The organizers of the gathering are the parties “Svoboda” and “Right Sector” (banned in the Russian Federation).
The SS Galicia Division was created on April 28, 1943 in Lvov, it existed until the summer of 1944. This formation was recruited from Ukrainian volunteers and was defeated by Soviet troops in 1944 near the city of Brody.
Servicemen of “Galicia” committed crimes against the civilian population. By the decision of the Nuremberg Tribunal, the SS troops, to which Galicia belonged, were recognized as a criminal organization.
